Applying for the North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Permit:
1.) Obtain a certificate of completion from an approved Firearms Training Course.

2.) Contact your local Sheriff’s office to schedule an appointment to submit you
paperwork. Ask what documentation and information you need to bring, Check the links below.

3.) When you go to the Sheriff’s office, you will need the following items:
a.) Original (embossed) “Certificate of Completion” from this course.
b.) Valid form of ID, (North Carolina Drivers License).
c.) A processing Fee. Check with your Sheriff’s office for valid payment types.
d.) Your DD214 if served in military (honorable discharge).

Required steps
a.) Filling out the CCH application.
b.) A background check will be conducted along with fingerprints taken.
c.) You will be required to fill out some medical questionnaires.

Once you receive your permit:
​
1.) Your permit will be valid for 5 years.
2.) You will be required to carry your permit and one other form of valid photo identification
when carrying a concealed firearm.
3.) When approached & contacted by an officer, you must notify them immediately that you have a
valid concealed handgun permit and you are in possession of a concealed handgun
(When carrying a firearm).​

REMEMBER: DO NOT attempt to draw or display your firearm.
